Natsumi Hayashi
1982 Born in Saitama, Japan
2005 Graduated from College of Arts at Saint Paul’s University, Tokyo
2007 Finished Graduate School of Community and Human Services at Saint Paul’s University, Tokyo
Natsumi Hayashi is a pioneering “internet-based artist,” establishing a style of delivering her works to the world through social media, and expanding into photography collections and installations. Her representative work, “Today’s Levitation“, gained attention primarily through Twitter, and has been featured in numerous media outlets both in Japan and internationally.
Her series SALVATION, which captures the beauty overlooked in everyday life, is continuously updated with one photo a day on social media. In 2024, she launched the project #SALVATION in OITA, blending Instagram and physical installations, and showcasing her work at JR Oita Station and Oita Bank’s Red Brick Hall as part of the city’s art-driven urban development initiative.
In recent years, she has been exploring the use of NFTs as a platform for her work, seeing the method of delivery itself as part of the creative process, while continuously seeking ways to create works that will resonate with future generations, even after her time.
